Brooklyn’s, Candy & The Kids debut EP, “The Cover-Up” features a seven-track concoction of electrifying covers, diving into the sonic vaults of bands such as: Metric, The Gun Club, Le Tigre, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Black Flag, Romeo Void and Bauhaus. The EP is a potent blend of dirty synth-pop, angular grooves, and raw post-punk energy that's guaranteed to make you move your hips; out January 30, 2024.
In 2019 Candy & The Kids, then known as The Cover-Ups, formed in Brooklyn for the purpose of a birthday party. The trio outgrew their modest beginnings and restarted as Candy & The Kids in 2020. Singer, Brett Rubin, channels the spirit and energy of vocalists Kathleen Hanna and Siouxsie Sioux while guitarist Michael Jurin, formerly of stellastarr*, lays down infectious riffs delivered with grit. Bret Winans, synth machine and drum programmer, adds a pulsating rhythm section that ties it all together. The band plans to mark their release of “The Cover-Up” with a limited-edition cassette, only 50 copies available; featuring all 7 tracks plus two original tracks, showcasing what’s ahead in 2024.
